Bashar Atalay is a well-known neurosurgeon, spinal surgeon, specialist of the high class in the field of spinal canal surgery, neurosurgery and interventions on peripheral nerves. He graduated in 1993 from the medical faculty of University of Hacettepe in Ankara. In 2001 achieved his specialization in neurosurgery from Ankara, after which he completed further training as part of his specialization at the University of Virginia (USA) in 2005, where he was engaged in research on diseases of vertebral column. 

In 2006, he practiced on the basis of the Tufts University of New England Medical Center (USA), and then in the same year he underwent refresher courses within the specialization of spinal surgery at the Boston Neurosurgery Institute (USA). Since 2007, the doctor has become a senior staff member of the Department of Neurosurgery at the University of Yeditepe. He speaks Turkish and English.

The professor has a number of scientific and educational medical publications on neurosurgery, in particular on surgery of intervertebral hernias, spinal cord surgery, peripheral nerve surgery, and besides, the doctor received a prize from the Turkish Neurosurgical Society for his contribution to the development of neurosurgery. In 2007, after successfully passing his exams, he was certified by the European Association of Neurosurgical Societies (EANS) and the Turkish Nerosurgical Society (2006), who is currently a member of the Congress of Neurosurgeons, currently the head of the Department of Spinal Surgery at Yeditepe Hospital.

He successfully completed his residency program in 2003 from department of internal diseases, and hematology at the medical faculty of the University of Uludag (Bursa, Turkey) in 2007, then began to work in the department of oncohematology at the bone marrow transplantation center of the Yeditepe hospital. He is an acting assistant professor of the Department of Hematology since 2007. The doctor is certified by the international commissions for carrying out all types of bone marrow transplantation in adult patients with the diagnosis of multiple myeloma, leukemia and various types of lymphomas.

The bulidings of the Yeditepe University Hospital are scattered in several districts of Istanbul. The central clinic is located in the Kadikoy district of the Asian part of the city. The road from Ataturk International Airport takes just over an hour. The clinic is located in a picturesque area, which is considered one of the most ancient districts of Istanbul. There is a large number of historical sights, one of the most famous monuments of architecture is considered to be Haydarpasa railway station. A 2-minute walk from the clinic is a large park, Gestepe, and in 5 minutes walk you can reach the beautiful Bosphorus riverbank, the training base of the Turkish football team Fenerbahce and the park of the same name. Hotels, restaurants, banks, ATMs, pharmacies and shops are available in the vicinity of the hospital. In 10-15 minutes from the clinic there are several large shopping and entertainment centers.
