Worked as a consultant in the Oncology Department at the Medical Faculty of the Vienna Medical University, as well as at the AKH Hospital in Vienna. Later there he was an expert in brain tumors. Included in the group of studies of stomach cancer and immunotherapy at the University of Vienna. He is the author of numerous and cited scientific articles. He conducted research abroad, at the Sloan-Kettering Memorial Center for Cancer and the University of Southwest Louisiana in the United States, as well as at the German Cancer Research Center in Heidelberg. He is the recipient of numerous awards for practical and scientific work, including for innovative cancer research.

He studied molecular biology at the Weizmann Institute (Israel). Conducts research in the basis of the Sloan-Kettering Memorial Center for Cancer in the USA and the Royal Clinic of Prince Alfred in Australia. Dr. Kostler has been a specialist in internal medicine since 2004, since 2005 an associate professor of the Department of Internal Medicine and since 2007 a specialist in hematology and oncology. He leads a specialized outpatient department of gastrointestinal tract stromal tumors (GIST), bones and soft tissue sarcoma. Professor Koestler works continuously as a researcher in numerous clinical trials and is a partner of international research projects, for which he received several national and international scientific awards. The Wiener PrivatKlinik is located in the heart of the medical district of Vienna, next to the largest public clinic Vienna General Hospital. Vienna Medical University is also located here. The location of the clinic in the medical district explains the liveliness and development of the transport network, which makes the access to the hospital more convenient. The road from Vienna International Airport to the clinic will take about 20 minutes by car (about 20 km away), and it will take about 50 minutes by public transport. A 5-minute walk from the hospital is a tram stop Skodagasse and Alser Strasse metro station. In the vicinity of the hospital there are several parks (Park Ostarrihi, Schönbornpark, Sigmund-Freud Park), the old building of the Vow Church and many other historical sites. The road to the very center of Vienna will take no more than 15-20 minutes. Nearby for patients there is a large selection of hotels for every taste and budget, apartments are also rented. There is also a large number of food establishments - coffee shops, restaurants, cafes, bakeries, where you can dine deliciously. Walking on foot towards the city center, you can visit at least 3 museums located nearby and admire the City Hall.
